Refinishing Furniture: Tools and Materials for Refinishing

Like most projects, carrying out a furniture refinishing project requires certain essential tools. If you already engage in lots of DIY activities, you are sure to find some of them in your toolbox already. If not, head to your local Dollar Store to purchase some of the basic items & only buy what is needed from the Hardware Store. 

• Stain rags
• Sandpaper or sanding blocks (80-220 grit depending on design) 
• Dish Soap + Bowl + Warm Water + Cloth 
• Old Toothbrush (if your piece has details that need cleaned) 
• Rubber gloves
• Protective eyewear
• Dust mask
• Paint & Primer
• Paint stripper + 0000 Steel Wool + Putty Knife
• Sander (Or sanding blocks)
• Wood stain
• Furniture wax / Varnish / Topcoat / Oil
• Paint Brushes / Rollers (Do not use Foam Rollers, always use a Nap Roller for a smooth, even finish).
